The Fabled Land of Mhaolain
|
The Inn of the Fluffy Pillow The Inn of the Fluffy Pillow stands on the Southern Road between the Village of Nanvaent and the vast expanse of the Western Desert. From the Inn an old road rises through the hills towards Glen Mhaolain. The Inn was once a busy place making a tidy profit, but now it stands deserted, a legacy to times past. |
Glen Mhaolain Glen Mhaolain runs roughly north-east southwest with the dark waters of Loch Mhaolain running along its base. It is a bleak land with a few trees clinging to to the sides of the Glen. The old mining town of Broken Rock stands at its northern end while the ancient fortress of MacMhaolain stands high on its southern ridge. Spanning the southwestern mouth of the Glen is the mysterious Forest of Caledon. |

The mining town of Broken Rock The mining town of Broken Rock is all but deserted. Like the Inn of the Fluffy Pillow it has seen better days. The mines are empty and Nathair Sgiathach has scared most people away. Despite almost being a ghost town, the Saloon still does a brisk trade. |
The Castle of MacMhaolain High on the southern ridge of the glen stands the ancient fortress of Castle MacMhaolain, it's massive bulk towering over the surrounding land. The only approach to the castle is along the loch side and then up a steep winding road. It is said to contain great treasures, but no one has ever returned. |

The Forest of Caledon The mysterious Forest of Caledon spans the southwestern end of Glen Mhaolain. Much of the forest has never been explored, though it is said that the Lair of Nathir Sgiathach lies somewhere within its dark interior. |
The Lair of Nathair Sgiathach Nathair Sgiathach's lair lies with the mountains that form the northern ridge of Glen Mhaolain. Many Aeons ago a great Wizard trapped Nathair in its Lair, but much evil was a foot and the Wizard defeated and Nathair ravaged the land once again. |

The Tomb of the Unknown Wizard It is said that the Wizard was so powerful that even Death could not take him unwillingly. Evil forces entombed him far underground and protected the tomb with untold horrors lest one day the powers of light release the Wizard. |
